The Shop

Space Opera Studio is a queer artist-run shop based in the Chicago, bringing you handmade goods that are a little bit outer space, a little bit outlaw, and a whole lot of heart. We make bold and playful accessories, decor, and stickers for the cosmic misfits, space cowpokes, and stargazers of the world. All pieces are made right here in our home studio—crafted by hand with care, color, and a touch of chaos. You can catch us at local maker markets and art fairs, spreading stardust and flare wherever we land.

Our mission is to add a spark of magic to your everyday. Life can be rough out there in the galaxy—so why not make room for a little joy, a little weirdness, and a whole lot of personality?

The Artist

Hey, howdy, hey! I'm Macy, the artist behind Space Opera Studio—a queer maker and Midwest grown full-time daydreamer. I am a proud Space Cowgirl (or just the one wrangling yarn and fabric chaos into something magical).

I've been creating in one form or another for most of my life, but I officially launched this little galaxy of a shop in 2025. My specialties include crochet, sewing, tufting, and turning bold ideas into tangible, touchable art. I'm currently a one-woman operation powered by a love for all things handmade, but I am forever grateful to have the love and support of my girlfriend, friends, and family.

When I'm not elbows-deep in a project, you can find me jamming out at a concert, playing cozy games, or curled up with a good show and a snack. I love spending my free time with my floofs: my corgi Tilly, and two very opinionated black cats, Cleo and Loki. My work is heavily inspired by queer joy, maximalist aesthetics, and the quiet magic of making something with your own two hands.
